A note from Modefa’s Founders: When visiting Turkey in the summer of 2023, among the new prayer rugs we selected was this unique velvet rug which pays tribute to Palestine. From the Keffiyeh pattern to the Aqsa mosque at center, we knew that it would be something many would treasure. Fast forward to the present time, and we feel this prayer rug holds even more significance; however, we are not comfortable with the thought of profiting from the devastation in Gaza. Therefore, due to the unfortunate circumstances in Palestine, a portion of the proceeds from these prayer rugs will be donated to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

WHY WE LOVE IT

Soft to the touch and beautiful in image, this prayer rug features the revered Dome of the Rock mosque at Al Aqsa in Jerusalem! It is one of the oldest and most important religious sites in Islam and holds much significance for Palestinian Muslims. Please note, if you bought this rug the last time we had it in stock, as of Feb 3 2025 this is now slightly different, as we had a change in manufacturer.

The sajjadah comes in a velvet material. That means it’s soft to the touch, making it a great option for salah! It is also designed with a traditional Palestinian print, the wavy design surrounding the prayer mat representing the olive leaves of Palestine while the fishnet pattern featured on majority of the namaz rug represents the Palestinian people’s longstanding connection to the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.

These prayer rugs are machine made, but hand-finished with the best workmanship Turkey has to offer. Each prayer rug is inspected for defects before shipping to our customers.

CARE
Hand wash, line dry for best results. May be washed on gentle cycle, cold, in a washing machine, but be aware that the tassels may come loose. We do not recommend regular washing.
